The trustee of the Golden Haggis Lucky Dip commands a lactating Loch Ness Monster in a bid to destroy the environment. After that disaster that was “Revenge of the Cybermen”, we needed something to recover.
"Terror of the Zygons" has superb monsters, superb acting from the regulars and guest stars, the Brigadier, a wonderful and very funny script courtesy of Robert Banks Stewart (also responsible for the great "Seeds of Doom"), fantastic production work, great locations, excellent, creepy design work on the Zygon ship, and even the Loch Ness monster.
For context, very few are excellent enough to merit a 5.0 in our minds, and we'd take a 0.0 Doctor Who story over a lot of other, non-Whovian stuff out there.

Summary: We are spoiled with this quintessential Classic Who. We're dropping a new episode every week (pretty much), reviewing Classic Who, New Who and all kinds of bonus stuff from spin-offs and conventions to Doctor Who comic books. Doc falls into a ten-minute coma, circumvents some forgettable bacteria and introduces the Daleks to the perils of molten ice.
Does the Brigadier look good in a kilt? To think, if he hadn’t have been the sole survivor of the battle with the Yeti in the bloodbath that was episode 4 of the Web of Fear, we would never have had the Brigadier! Dinosaurs in London, another literal sub-plot and the debut of the Whomobile! Vorherige Fortunately, two things turn it around: the heart-warming togetherness of the three travellers, first seen tramping through the heather (Harry sporting the Doctor’s scarf and Sarah, his hat), and Tom Baker’s captivating performance as the Doctor, talking once again through his hat (“VERY WELL!”) and later, staring morosely into the middle distance as if utterly bored by terrestrial concerns. For his final on screen command, the Brigadier wore a kilt, perhaps to aid his dealings with the local Duke.
It’s not surprising that the Zygons became so popular from just this one story. On it, we review, discuss, debate, rate and praise and/or poke holes in every single Doctor Who episode, Classic and New, as well as cons, comics, audiobooks and more!
Given the atmosphere; the mystery; the Loch Ness Monster; an alien menace; and plenty for our main characters to do, it was well worth the wait for viewers in 1975. The refresher training since their shambolic Dads Army performance in Robot has clearly paid off.
