I believe Maitland is consistently ranked as one of the top places in the country to live or raise a family or something like that. After many of the hurricanes have come through, the community of Longwood unifies together to rebuild the beautiful city we live in. The only thing that bothers me out here is the constant shooting! Based on FBI crime data, Lake Mary is not one of the safest communities in America. Traffic on the east side has some of the worst drivers I've experienced. If you want the convenience of all everything Orlando has to offer (and better prices than Winter Park, Windermere, Dr. Phillips, etc), this area is great!

There are some older apartments a few blocks off of Park Ave that are pretty reasonable. Lake Mary and/or Maitland. If you're younger than 30s-40s, I seriously doubt you would enjoy living in Lake County much. We just discussed finding a place in Sanford, observing the next few years to see if the schools (NE Cluster) there improve and then make the decision to move to Oviedo or stay. The thing I would improve about this town is to add drainage in the streets to help avoid flooding. There is a really good mini store here, with a very friendly owner.
