I had the guitar plugged in while I did this, strumming the strings to see how it sounded. The guitar features toaster pickups, an on-board compressor, and individual 12 string saddles. Roger also changed the tuners, in what photographic evidence suggests was late 1969, from the factory installed Klusons to a set of gold Grovers, which remain on the guitar to this day. It sounded just like the built-in compressor! I had a dead McGuinn circuit board and asked JH for help.
Why? The current 370/12 uses a different wiring harness, the same as the original factory circuit.
This baffles me.
Within my first week of owning it, I found it a hard to interface with my amps and pedals.
From a construction point of view it is the same as the 360/12, but with a third pickup. Rather than getting the clear, sparkling "The Byrds" tone, the tone is muted and distorted.
