seamungus natives

The mulch breaks down and enriches the soil. I think it does have fish meal and I think the manufacturer tries very hard to stay clear of chemical additives as they market strong toward the organic producers. Whilst i did remove a heap of old sand and bring in a native soil mix, the main products i have used have been seasol and Seamungus (made by neutrog). Share your ideas on re-potting, potting mediums and fertilisers. anyone else heard of this ? I read people say they alternate between seasol/powerfeed and seamungus so I was wondering if they are different stuff. i.e.

Thanks Jeepyrocks, that's exactly what I'm after.

thanks all for the reply. Think of it like the plant worlds version of a Berocca after a big night out :). http://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index.

It's cheaper and superior.

Just knew there had to be a product out there pelleted and designed for Natives.

I've heard Seasol et al are good for natives, which seems odd as seasol apparently stimulates root growth. Incitec CK 77S or Hi Fert HF 78 S is ideal for acreage blocks, while the Searles fertilisers are perfect for the average suburban garden. I used liquid fertilisers for a long time. I guess for gardens fast straight growth doesn't matter a whole lot. Seamungus is used for revitalising all plants throughout the year (including natives & lawns) and is ideal for establishing new plants, particularly bare-rooted roses.. Post In my part of the country boron zinc and copper are regularly deficient for the purpose of growing good straight farm trees.

Bush Tucker provides these essential nutrients, but more importantly provides a catalyst (through the introduction of beneficial bacteria/microbes) for stimulating the natural processes that occur in the soil – unlocking further nutrients and enhancing root growth.

... _Nurseries, http://www.ology.net.au/#!bonsai-soils/c1n0f. Am I imagining or does seamungus also have fish meal? I have various natives growing in my garden and all I do is aerate the soil around them occasionally, and apply a leaf type mulch.

It could be a case of the natives doing okay in poor soil but do really well in a richer soil. The trick with natives is to put the fertiliser 10 – 20 cm away from the root ball on the downhill side so the plant does not get a big flush of nutrient washing over the root ball.Low phosphate fertiliser is a must but the level really depends on the existing nutrient profile. I have mostly native trees and shrubs both back and front at my place but have never been able to find a good fertiliser made just for natives.

Hi treeman can you make your own "seasol/seamungus" type material (obviously you can but for how cheap and easy is the actual question), Species, training and growing information - Natives and Exotic. Whatever you choose just make sure it's low in phosphorus, natives do not like phosphorus! I do not have a problem with the density of the product. How did you hear about the Pooh Bah Club? I then reapply.

It starts breaking down after two waterings and totally crumbled after 4-6 weeks.

The analysis of Native Plant Food is: N-P-K : 9.5 – 1 – 8.5. by kcpoole » July 29th, 2015, 8:58 am, Post

To date out of 78 natives planted about 6 months ago, I have lost none and all are thriving. i just use Osmocote for natives, it's easy to just chuck around, it doesn't smell disgusting or get up your nose and it's slow release so won't burn them etc. As with all Neutrog products, the Bush Tucker formula was developed  over a number of years and was widely trialled by numerous expert  native plant growers prior to its release. Once the plant is established it should grow happily forever with minimum water. Never had a problem.

In the last 12 months i planted a native garden. Seamungus uses freshly harvested seaweed compared to some other brand which uses seaweed powder. Searles Native Plant Food is available in 5 kg bags from our Retail Centre for about $20 1 a bag.

Seamungus is a health tonic containing seaweed, fish, humic acid and manure.

But not evidently with phosphorus! I'm looking for something pelleted that I can throw around when it's about to rain or is raining.

Seasol isn't a fertiliser its a health tonic for plants. Its pelleted and i just peg a few handfulls around and let the rain do the work. by kcpoole » July 28th, 2015, 10:31 pm, Post

Seasol is a bit of a wonder-fertilizer, you use it when planting things out too. Its pelleted and i just peg a few handfulls around and let the rain do the work. Natives don't really need a fertiliser if the soil was rich to begin with. have seen seamungus.

Natives require a wide range of essential nutrients in order to grow and flourish. Anyone know of a good general purpose fertiliser made just for Australian native's ? Unexpected surpise – no smell at all !! But I was wondering if there was anything else available in a pelleted form that isn't the slow release type. I've always planted in with cow poo then commercial fertilizer as mentioned above but bear in mind they don't need too much fertilizer. That means I can skip seamungus if I'm already doing seasol + powerfeed.

I've found that I've had natives thrive in good organic soil.
