Certainly the Moody's are the Kings of the Concept Album. It was less grandiose, although the opening track Procession had its moments.

Most of the previous albums were purposeful collective works where "EGBDF" is a collection of works that is made to work as a collective. This is another great collection of The Moody Blues although the first cracks of the groups pending hiatus can be detected as the music is all individual and made to work together.

Perhaps if they had received less acclaim for 'Days of Future Passed' they could have broken out of that self-imposed box prior to 'Seventh Sojourn'. Some of the music does convey real emotion but? I especially like the 4.0 mix. While this is not usually how I would award 5 stars, it applies here to EGBDF. All of this period of Moody Blues (first seven albums) are vital for any progressive rock enthusiasts of 60s/early 70s. Together with its follow-up album, Seventh Sojourn, EGBDF marks the beginning of the end of the Moodies that I knew and love as their sound changed as they might ed through the late Seventies and into the Eigties, becoming less reliant on grand mellotron sweeps and more processed.
