There is definitely some violence, drinking, and smoking, but it isn't too bad. Stay on top of the latest breaking film and TV news! I already posted what I think about it and I love it. The book teaches great lessons, such as how stereotyping is bad, and the importance of youth and friendship. makes you look at things differently. Ponyboy and his Greaser gang fight rival gang the Socs (short for "Socials," the wealthier, more preppie kids) and try to make a place for themselves in the world. The Socs always jump the hoods (Greasers) when they are alone. Perhaps the Master of Horror has been writing about ghosts and demons for so long that he no longer feels the need to convince anyone that believing in the boogeyman is a reasonable, rational choice, but the book tries to combine two, diametrically opposed genres — speculative fiction and true crime — without respecting the foundation of both. The book, preferably, is not for kids in 5th grade or lower due to some language and content. I recommend it for kids 11 and up because the book does have a lot of drugs and violence. Not once did I struggle to see what’s going on in “The Outsider.” Instead, the sharp lines between the black and bright sections of the screen epitomize the conflicting ideals at play. I would read it 100 times if I could. Can not believing in something protect us from it? This is a great book that exposes kids to some history of the 1960s and Ponyboy. At its core, “The Outsider” is a story about belief. “The Outsider” premieres Sunday, January 12 at 9 p.m. I absolutely adore this book. There is a murder with descriptions of blood, and there is a part that includes somebody committing suicide by cop which may disturb some younger readers. This is genuinely one of the best movies I’ve ever seen! They join a group of hoods: Johnny, 2-Bit, Steve and Dally. and it teaches you a life lesson. i love s.e. The movie is also truly amazing, helping actors like Tom Cruise and Rob Lowe becoming a household name. They all have parts to play: Dally is the tough guy, 2-Bit is known for his switchblade, Steve is known to mess around a lot, Sodapop comforts people, Johnny is the pet of the gang, and Ponyboy is the youngest at the age of fourteen. The Outsiders is an amazing book and it will always be the best book I've ever read. Stay gold for Johnny, Pony. Still, Erivo’s private investigator represents the other side of the coin. What should be an open-and-shut case inexplicably pivots when just as much evidence contradicts Terry’s guilt. It only takes a few days to read and after that, you should watch the amazing movie that is so true to the book. I really loved this book. All rights reserved. I definitely recommend this book. Perhaps the Stephen King branding is enough of a tip-off for most people, but the author doesn’t always rely on superhuman acts to explain things; Andy Dufresne didn’t rely on demonic spells to dig his way out of Shawshank. i’ve always been a big reader. There is some hinting at sex but it will fly under the radar for younger kids and very minimal swearing. Characters look out for one another, and redemption is a key aspect of the novel. She’s seen things she can’t explain and come to accept that such unanswerable dilemmas are part of life. This book introduced me to the world of Socs and Greasers. Overall, this is an amazing book and DEFINITELY recommended and something everyone should at least once in their lives. The outsiders, by SE Hinton...my favorite book. The Outsiders - a negative review A few months back I read the excerpt from Rob Lowe’s book where he talked about being cast in The Outsiders. With the help of a great cast (led by Ben Mendelsohn) and eerie, stark direction from Emmy-winner Jason Bateman, “The Outsider” isn’t on the level of Price’s past work — but it’s far better than this story has any right to be. This was a phenomenal book hands down. I highly DONT recommend this book. It all-in-all is a very good book. Good dramas have compelling characters (check), life-changing scenarios (check), and often explore relatable topics brought out by these people and events. Julianne Nicholson and Scarlett Blum in “The Outsider”. - A. It is really sad and you never see how ponyboy turns out at the end. By the end of the first hour (and again in the second), the audience is left wondering linked, yet opposing questions: How did Terry get away with it (because he had to have done it) and who else could’ve done it (because there’s no way Terry did it)? Granted, Ralph’s only child wasn’t killed or violated in the woods, but the still-recovering cop isn’t exactly over the injustice of losing his boy. I’m 13 and I loved this book! I have read it over 7 times! There are rumbles (fights) but nothing too violent than what you’d see in any other book. It gives you a great message but a sad ending. There is a bit of violence, because someone does stab someone else. The book is not explicitly violent. Ben Mendelsohn and Cynthia Erivo in “The Outsider”. Much of what makes the story so intriguing from the outset is its inherent promise to answer these perplexing queries: “Don’t worry, there will be an explanation for all this weirdness.” And a lot of time in the early episodes is devoted to grounding this dark and gritty drama; jokes are already being cracked about director Bateman’s trademark low-lighting, but it’s an asset, not a problem. No, but at least it gives you reason to believe it wants to be. Sign Up: Stay on top of the latest breaking film and TV news! What could have led the police to make such a scene out of his arrest? Other than the violence and the drug use, i recommend it! The movie adaption was pretty good, but not the same. Since “The Outsider” isn’t really a murder-mystery — at least, it doesn’t work as a murder-mystery — it has to be a good drama. Ralph is so convinced Terry is the killer that he cuffs him in the middle of a game, as his wife Glory (Julianne Nicholson), their kids, and lots of townsfolk packed in the bleachers gape in horror. They are in a battle against the Socs, who are spoiled and very rich. Great actors like Nicholson, Mare Winningham, Bill Camp, and Jeremy Bobb provide equal dimensionality in even less time, and, after the first two episodes, Cynthia Erivo steps in with a character so filled with quirks and cliches she could’ve disconnected the whole endeavor, but Erivo embodies her with a deliberateness that keeps Holly Gibney tied to the rest of the show. It is amazing and if you haven't read it yet, you're missing out! Parents should be cautious, and maybe read it before their kid, but overall this book has great life lessons and will always make you cry! Ben Travers There are two other gangs of greasers. There aren't any swear words, either. Older kids are more mentally mature to understand between what is wrong and what is right. I'm 16 year old and I read this book when I was 11. Stephen King’s 2018 novel focuses on a small town detective whose job requires him to find concrete answers to real-world mysteries, and then hands him an impossible case he can’t explain — not without considering supernatural possibilities. A fight scene is described, and so are numerous wounds. While I haven't lived in the 60s, The Outsiders is way more realistic of how life was like for teenagers than other books, such as Sweet Valley High which didn't depict all the violence. The book, preferably, is not for kids in 5th grade or lower due to some language and content. All characters smoke in the book, but it is addressed that it’s bad, and characters are sometimes drunk. that every person has emotions. How does what we believe in shape our lives?
