With the generous support of local business sponsors, Polk County’s Office of Agricultural Economic Development hosts a monthly Friends of Agriculture Breakfast for our community of farmers, gardeners, and food enthusiasts. The Friends of Agriculture Breakfast is a free event which features a delicious local food breakfast and an educational speaker on areas of interest to our agricultural community. Past speakers and topics of conversation have included:
- “Hot New Crops: Should You Grow Them?” by Jeanine Davis, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Horticultural Science with NC State University
- “Utilizing Cover Crops and Winter Grain Production to Build Better Soils and Increase Profits” by Dr. Brian Ward, Research Specialist with Clemson Coastal Research and Education Center
The Friends of Agriculture Breakfast is held at 7 am on the third Wednesday of every month, between September and May, at the Green Creek Community Center. 25 Shields Drive, Tryon, NC 28782
